Canadian freestyle
Hey All,
Well after about 6 years of riding I still have yet to see any freestyle events in Canada. Am I missing them? Do they exist?
Is anyone interested in organizing something? an event? a full fledged freestyle association? anything?
It just strikes me as VERY odd that just about every other water sport you can think of is popular in Canada (we have lots of lakes and ocean front) except PWC riding (and even less stand-up freestyle riding).
I know here on the west coast there is quite a bit of freestyle/freeriding just across the border in Washington....but in Vancouver and Victoria (on an island no less) it's pretty damn sleepy.
OK...my rant is over
Cheers

Ontario probably has more due to the, usually, great hot summer weather they get... that would be my guess.
BC would have more outdoorsy type people, but i think that most of them would be hikers, walkers and so on that don't like to see 'gas powered machines destroy nature' or something.
LOL - my 2 cents, but yeah, it would be awesome to have more events out here!TheBaldEagle

Yep....that's all probably true...of course the BC interior gets pretty toasty ;-)
...and I 2nd the "enviro" factor. When I first started riding I asked if anyone knew of any jet ski riders on an island forum for surfers and windsurfers. Well the 1st reply was a surfer that went up one side of me and down another about how evil my ski was and how he didn't ever want to see it where he surfs. I politely told him I had no intention of riding where he surfs....just looking for riding partners. Then to get my point across I asked how much gas his toaster van used to gett him to his favourite beach. Then his buddies jumped all over him for being an idiot...hehe.
Oh well...I'll keep riding!!
Cheers

You've only got 2 posts on here....and i just told Mick and Joe about this site....so I'm betting you are one of them...hehe
BTW....I'm Bryan...the guy with the purple SuperJet.

Cheers

Lets make something happen, even a demo would be good at least then people would know what to expect. More than half the people that see my stand ups are super curious and haven't even seen them before. Been to Jordan river didn't have any problems but in my opinion it sucked for how much work it was launching. I might head down to dallas point and play in the waves there but for an actual comp, i say hell yea fresh/flat or salt/waves lets try and get something done. I have a few guys that would come ride but not sure how many would be into competing. Is there still the race in BC on the tour? Sorry for the jumbo my .02 cents

Hey Chad....Bryan here....we met up at Shawnigan a couple summers ago.
Good to here you're still riding man!!
Call me...(250) 920-8830 and we'll go ride. I'm not sure I'm willing to toss it in the salt yet....but Elk or Shawnigan for some flat fresh is fine by me.
So who else might come out with ya? Richie? Jeff? Sean? Ian's buddy (can't remember his name right now....bought that silver/gray SJ off Ian).
BTW...check out the BC 150 thread under events....a show in Van in late Sept....having trouble finding guys that are ready to show off (not sure I'm in that boat....and many mechanical issues are keeping me from practicing)....those that are good enough will be at the World's in Havasu.
