There are a few of us from the Taber area that ride at Chin Lake or Stafford Lake by Coaldale. (Just east of Lethbridge) 3 or 4 standups and a buttload of couches out there all the time.
Keho Lake just east of Claresholm is pretty decent, but about an hour from here so we don't go there often. And I guess there's alot of people that ride in Alix, AB, just east of Red Deer.

There is only one riding spot with in 30 min of my house so I usually go to places where I can camp at the lake, its good that gas is down so far this year however the weather isn't cooperating this year as well so I have only been out once so far.
