SX 650 Reduction Nozzle
Has anybody tried to modify the stock plastic reduction nozzle. I have a spare sitting on the bench and was wondering what effect it might have on the performance if I was to remove the plastic vanes that are inside it. Maybe a little taperbore with the die grinder.
Has anybody experimented with one of these. Let me know before I waste my time.

The spare that I have sitting on the bench has an outlet dimension of 82mm. Whats the measurement for the X2. I tried to search it on the internet with no luck.
Has anybody seen the inside of a PJS or Ocean Pro. Do they have the vanes cast into them, or are they smooth walled. The stock nozzle has about 10 vanes and I was wondering what effect it might have if I was to grind them out.Riding an '89' is a splash from the past!

I cut mine out and I never really noticed any difference but I still do it because it's easy. Most aftermarket nozzles don't have any.

I did spend a couple of hours grinding them all out but never tried it.
I have found out that the Aluminum Ocean Pro has them so I didn't bother trying it.
My guess was that they are to stop the corkscrew effect of the water so leaving them in would give better thrust.
Maybe I will try it this year.Riding an '89' is a splash from the past!

I dont think I will cut them right out because I think your right and it will cause a cork screw effect.. I might just sand them down to make them like a knife and not have a blunt side, might help might not, just something to do!!

I removed the vanes from my SX nozzle. There is a noticeable swirl left in the exiting water jet compared to stock. Not sure if it feels faster or slower. This is on a lightly ported 650, dual 38s, 180psi and westcoast pipe.
