insurance
i looked on this site for what to do about insurance and where to get, found a couple places but ended up goin with state farm. its a 150$ a year for me just liability, also insuring my dirtbike for 136 a year. thought this was really reasonable and let others know who might be looking or wonderign what to do. also im 22 and dont have anything else insured with them, just the 2 machines. they didnt ask for anything else like my truck and what not.

The more you bundle the more you save with them. My truck, bike and life insurance quote was less than the bike on it's own. Didn't even think of adding the ski and dirtbike

We carry our ski insurance through our household policy. I'm not sure who the underwriter is. We have liability as well as theft and fire. Replacement value at $3500.00 each, not sure on the liability but I think it's 1mil. Covers me if I hit something or get hit. Will also cover someone else if they are riding our skiis. If I recall correctly it's $126 per year.
Now I'm going to go and read my policy. I'll let you know the who the policy is through and the true numbers once I'm more informed.Riding an '89' is a splash from the past!

I just got a renewal notice from Beacon for $685. Asked my broker to shop around, got a quote from Premier for $285. Not sure if I want to go with them though, as their theft coverage is pretty thin; they'll only pay out if stolen from inside a locked building where there is visible signs of forcible entry. Beacon will cover theft so long as it's chained to an immovable object (including if my truck is stolen with trailer attached)
I don't think I can insure my PWC under my house insurance (Dominion) because of the top speed...
Anyways, here's my breakdown
Premier ($200 deductible)
$10k Vessel - $240
$250k Liability - incl.
$2500 Medical - incl.
$5000 Acc. death - incl.
$1000 Trailer - $10
$25k Uninsured boater - $incl
Policy fee - $35
$1M Liability for an extra $125
Beacon ($500 deductible)
$10k Vessel - $665
$1M Liability - incl.
$2500 Medical - incl.
$1000 Trailer - $20
$1M Uninsured boater - incl.
Policy fee - $0
Also includes $1000 each for Rental expense, Emergency towing, and fire department charges

I also use Beacon ($672) as their theft coverage is way better than premier (no theft coverage in the backyard). Also the 1M liability and uninsured protection is much better.

I believe insurance is optional. But highly recommended.
