Default Building a 650 class stand up race ski

In Northern California, the race promoter has a 650 stand up class. So we are going to build a race ski for this class. Here we come DJSA Racing. We are going to go with a SF Giants color theme.

Talk about a nice entry level and cheap way to get into racing, hope this class helps grow the sport.

The paint is finished and the 650cc 6M6 engine has been built. 78.0 Wiseco pistons are in the top end. The head has been reshaped and milled. The cylinder has been ported. The cases stuffed and ported. Stock carburetor minus the choke shaft. Installed the Hydro Turf tray pad. The ski is taking shape.

You are definitely right Serious, having a 550, 650 and 750 race classes brings in racers. So many people have the skis but have no opportunity to compete. Other than the porting and paint the ski could be built much more reasonably. This engine is completely rebuilt as is the intermediate and pump housing. We took no chances but a budget minded person could have left the pump and intermediate housings alone if they seemed in good working order. Installed a Solas "I" prop into the newly rebuilt pump.

Lost time. Ended painting and installing the wrong bed plates. Had to clean, blast and paint a new set. Heat lamp city. Installed the knick / knacks ( fuel line holders, hardware , water sep.,etc..) Time consuming. Engine is installed. Carbon Tech reed installed. More for insurance than performance. Installed a stock Coffman pipe and X-manifold.

Finished the engine compartment. The handlepole is on and the steering is done. We went to the River for some break in and testing. Dave is retorquing the head, while Andrew works on his ski.
