A Day Trip On The Trent River
Hopefully this link works.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=143763369038567
August 6, rain day is the 7th. We start in Sparrow Lake right at the Trent canal (Lauderdale Marina for meeting spot and launch) and go to Port Severn and back for a nice day ride. If we go early and ride a bit quicker, we could go a little farther into Honey Harbour and Boislei island, play in the harbour and back for a nice day trip. I have been informed riders will also need to get a day lock pass. Lock passes can be purchsed at most of the lock stations. More info about lock passes here: http://thewaterway.ca/lock_schedule.html

Meeting place/launch will be Lauderdale Marina on Sparrow Lake at 9:00AM.
Here's the Marina address to punch in to your GPS:

Keep Going...
From Port Severn, keep going to Honey Harbour and fuel up at Picnic Island and get an ice cream. They also have a major BBQ going so you can snack on some ribs. If this is your last stop before turning around, go past the Delawana Inn on the Inner Channel and hang a right into Honey Harbour proper for about 30 seconds. The Lake Country Grill has GREAT "homecooked" food and beer.
If you have the time and energy and a decent GPS/chartplotter, keep going past the Delawana and go left into the main channel and out into the bay. 26 more miles will take you to Frying Pan Island/Sans Souci where the famous Henry's Fish and Chips lies. The pickeral is worth the trip. In calm water this is the trip to do in addition to Sparrow Lake to Port Severn. Fuel up here and head back to Honey Harbour BUT...you can hang a left into Twelve Mile Bay for a nice speed run. Once you exit the bay, then keep heading to Honey Harbour for more fuel to finish the trip. We do this run all the time but don't try it unless the southern Georgian Bay Bouy is calling for CALM winds ie less than 3 knots, otherwise you will get beat up a bit in the open areas.
