Sucked ski rope into intake.

I sucked a ski rope into water intake. Drove about 1/4 mile home. Seadoo would only go slow and was emitting vapours from behind. Cut all rope I could see out through intake grate but after taking for a run it wasn't quite running as fast a speed and soon started emitting vapours from behind again. Possible problems or damage?
Seedoo 2003 4-tec supercharged 185 hp with enclosed water cooled engine.

Good chance you didn't get all the rope. Put it on a trailer and look through the jet drive, you might see some rope. I bet the smell is melting rope.
