Ion Air Pro cameras
Wondering if anyone has any experience with this camera, I have a couple old go-pro, (pre HD Models) that i'm looking to upgrade, I've been considering the Contour HD, and a friend mentioned that Ion Air Pro cameras looked pretty descent. so far from what i see, very weak mounting system, I think i would end loosing a camera if it hit the water, sometimes pictures can be deceiving, My Go-Pro's have hit the water at 40 mph plus, and they just lose the positioning, but I have never lost one!

thought and opinions would be greatly appreciated, before purchasing a new camera for spring time!
Thanks Guys! in advance.Last edited by Bulldawg; 01-30-2013 at 03:28 PM.

Hi there... To be honest, i didn't even hear about this camera before... So, i can't give you an opinion about it... However.... I have 2 gopro and i can say they are awesome!
The gopro design is perfect for water sport and more...
on the other hand... I have also 1 contour... Quality is excellent, but you have to buy the water case separately... And i dont think it won't resist a water impact if you are on skies...
cheers

iON Camera Speed Pro
Hi Bulldawg, iON has designed and developed a purpose built camera called the Speed Pro. The Speed Pro is specifically tailored to operate in extreme Motorsports, Powersports, and Marine environments. The Speed Pro and the Air Pro have outstanding aerodynamics thus offering a smaller footprint which does not need an additional water proof enclosure. It is waterproof up to 30 feet. The Speed Pro offers up to a 170 degree viewing angle and variable mounts to securely affix it to many different types of vehicles. If you have some concerns about the mounting systems, you can always use the secure lanyard attachment that adds another layer of security to the 3M adhesives that are used with iON’s multiple mounting solutions. In addition, they have a CamLock System which offers the flexibility to shoot/share mounted in the forward and backward positions. I recommend that if you have any further questions to contact them through Facebook. (www.facebook.com/ioncamera) They have always been quick to respond to customers and future users.
Samples of Speed Pro footage can be found in this video that features iON Athlete and World Rally Championship driver Petter Solberg.

Thanks Edward, I think the lanyard does add another layer of security, but I still question the Camlock mount system strenght, thats all, I guess i would say, running the gopro cam on my RC boats, the boats have flipped, gone airborne and the impact of the camera hitting water at 50+ mph, I have never even cracked a mount, just had to reposition the camera. I have a good deal on an Ion Camera, i just wondering if someone could testify in real application if that cam lock system is as sturdy.
