The IJSBA, along with Club Jet Marme De San Javier, is pleased to announce the dates and location for the IJSBA 2006 World Offshore Championships.

The event shall take place in Gandia, Spain on October 28 and 29. The coastal city of Gandia is renowned for its beautiful beach, restaurants, shopping, and producer of some of the most delicious oranges in the world. A palm tree lined city center adds to Gandia’s reputation as a European tourist destination. “The promenade is beautiful and full of famous shops and restaurants. People come and enjoy the beach during the day and the best nightlife in Spain.

IJSBA racers are sure to have a treat by competing in this venue,” said co promoter Esti Amatriain. Gandia is also known as the home of the French boat “Challenger” which competes in The America’s Cup Race in Valencia, California.

Taking full advantage of the renowned Mediterranean Sea, the racers will have to compete in a test of physical and mental endurance that takes them on a course of more than 120 KM. Competitors will have to endure the elements of the sea while navigating to specific points in order to make the most efficient times. “Last year, we had more than 100 competitors from various countries. This year, people are really talking about the event. Its going to be the biggest offshore race ever.”
