John Moffatt has traveled nearly 10,000 miles this summer to find something inside himself.



He’s looking for that ultimate sense of selfassuredness, the easy, but unyielding kind that can be earned only through difficult achievement. The way he sees it, if he can just break the world aquabike distance record, then he’ll be able to accomplish anything else he wants.

And he’s almost there.

“The idea is to end this stronger than I started,” Moffatt said Thursday morning as he refueled his Sea-Doo GTX at the Sun Harbor Marina near the Hathaway Bridge. “That’s what this is all about.”
