Default False Creek boat-fuel station due to close

Thousands of recreational boaters who moor in Vancouver's False Creek -- and sail in English Bay -- could lose their only refuelling station by April.

That would leave boaters with the choice of motoring for an hour through First Narrows to Coal Harbour's Chevron station, or toting their own jerry cans up and down docks at the creek's marinas.

    K. Saw my shadow again. Is it time to come out of hibernation yet? Baha!!

Damn if they close the fuel station. But a solution would be to bring extra. I usually do, but the price of gas this year is going to hurt a bit. Specially with that new BS carbon tax. What a load of crap that is.......

I'm guessing it'll get a new owner/operator. There's way too much boat traffic down there not to have a station IMO. But it sure would suck to loose that location.

They were supposed to close February 2008...

GOOD NEWS - I just spoke with them and they are open at least until the end of May and are getting month-to-month extensions until maybe the end of summer...

...at least we have them for another year!

Great! Now the only place to fill-up is on the other side of Stanley Park, but yeah, oh right, no PWC's allowed in the area... smart!

    So...freaking...lame.
I'm still hoping the government steps in and takes it over. I just can't see a gas station not being down there.

    Exclamation Gone!!!!

Well, i phoned them today and their # no longer works!

I also phoned around and everyone says that it's GONE!!

http://www.sewellsmarina.com/ is the only place i can find in Horsehoe Bay for us, as Jetski's are not allowed under / past the Lions Gate bridge!!! If you do go under, there is Mosquito Creek Marina on the north side with fuel, but if they catch you - .

There is also that little Chevron under the Knight Street bridge (i think, or at least in that area), but that's still very far from False Creek.

If you find any other station open, please post.

New Fuel Station for Vancouver Harbour

In December 2009, the Chevron Legacy, a new and now the only marine fuel station for Vancouver Harbour, was completed by the builders, Alaska Ship & Drydock, Inc. of Ketchikan, Alaska. The station was then towed to Vancouver and was installed and made operational in late January, 2010. This station replaced the Chevron barge S.O.B.C. No. 5 which has been moored in Coal Harbour since it was built in 1959. Both the original fuel barge and the modern replacement were designed by Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, B.C.
